How to Play
21 is a fast card game against a computer opponent. Reach a total closer to 21 than the opponent's without going over. Face cards count ten; Aces count 1 or 11.
Hit to take another card, stand to hold your total, and let the opponent play out to 17+.
Because the opponent follows a fixed rule — it keeps hitting until it reaches 17 — the whole game reduces to one question: what total do you need to beat a hand that will land on 17 or better or bust? Standing on anything below 17 hands the advantage straight to it, since it will simply keep drawing.
This is free browser play with no money, no wagering and no prizes. Nothing is staked and nothing can be won or lost beyond the round result.

Tips & Tricks
- 1Stand on hard 17 or higher in most situations
- 2Hit soft hands (with Ace as 11) more aggressively
- 3Assume the opponent will reach 17 — plan your target total
- 4Settle for 19 or 20 when it already beats likely opponent totals
- 5An Ace counted as 11 cannot bust on the next card, so a soft hand is the only time hitting below 17 is genuinely safe
- 6The opponent's rule is fixed at 17, not adaptive — it will never stand early to trap you
- 7Against a hand that always reaches 17, a total of 18 wins outright around half the time and pushes or loses the rest, so 19 is the first comfortable number

How does the opponent decide?

How is an Ace counted?
As 11 when that keeps the total at or under 21, and as 1 otherwise. A hand with a flexible Ace is called soft.
What happens if I go over 21?
You bust and lose the round immediately, regardless of what the opponent holds.
