How to Play
Golf Solitaire is a quick, calming solitaire variant. Seven columns of cards are dealt face-up, and a single waste pile starts with one card. On your turn you may move any exposed tableau card onto the waste if its rank is exactly one higher or one lower than the current waste card (suits do not matter). When no moves remain, draw from the stock to start a new waste card. Clear all seven columns to win — the fewer cards left, the better your score.
Only the bottom card of each column is ever playable, so the board is effectively seven simultaneous choices rather than 35. Suits are irrelevant, which means every rank has two continuations rather than one — that is what makes long chains possible, and a chain of eight or ten is a normal good run rather than a fluke.
Because the waste only ever moves up or down by one, the difference between a good game and a stuck one is usually choosing the branch that keeps both directions open.
