How to Play

Minesweeper is the classic puzzle game of deduction and careful exploration. Your mission is to clear a rectangular board containing hidden mines without detonating any of them.

The board consists of covered squares. Left-click to reveal a square. If it's a mine, you lose! If it's safe, it shows a number indicating how many mines are in the adjacent 8 squares. Use these numbers to deduce where mines must be.

Right-click to place flags on squares you believe contain mines. This helps you keep track and prevents accidental clicks. The game is won when all non-mine squares are revealed. This version includes the classic three difficulty levels.

Controls

  • Left Click - Reveal a square
  • Right Click - Place/remove a flag
  • Double Click on revealed number - Reveal adjacent squares (if correct number of flags placed)
  • F - Toggle flag mode

Tips & Tricks

  • 1Start by clicking corners or edges - they're safer starting points
  • 2If you see a '1' with only one covered neighbor, that neighbor is a mine
  • 3A '3' surrounded by three covered squares means all three are mines
  • 4Use flags liberally - they prevent accidents and help you track
  • 5Sometimes you need to guess - but only when logic fails

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the first click always safe?

Yes! In this version, the board is generated after your first click, ensuring you never hit a mine immediately.

What's the 1-2-1 pattern?

A horizontal or vertical line of numbers 1-2-1 indicates mines at the ends. This common pattern helps solve tricky sections.

How do I improve my speed?

Practice recognizing common patterns, use chord clicking (double-click numbers), and stay calm under pressure.
