How to Play
Typing Sprint runs a 30-second test of raw typing speed. Press Start and a word appears above the input box — type it exactly and hit Space or Enter. A correct word banks its letters into your score and the next word appears instantly; a mistyped word counts the word's length as errors and still moves on, so accuracy is measured keystroke by keystroke, not word by word.
Your live words-per-minute are computed as correct characters divided by five per minute, the standard measure. The timer sits in the top bar next to live WPM and accuracy, and the word counter tracks how many words you cleared. When the clock hits zero the results panel shows your final WPM, total words, accuracy percentage, and your all-time best for this browser.
Stop now ends the round early and scores the time already spent, which is handy if you only have ten seconds. There is no penalty for restarting — New sprint resets to the start screen so you can grind your personal best across as many rounds as you like.
Controls

- Stop now - end the round early and score it
- New sprint - return to the start screen
Tips & Tricks
- 1Accuracy beats raw speed: a 90 WPM run at 96 percent accuracy scores worse than a steadier 80 WPM at 99 percent, because errors zero out the whole word
- 2Look at the word, not your hands — the input box accepts the full word before you submit, so burst-type rather than letter-hunting
- 3Rhythm matters more than sprints; most typists lose time on the Space bar, so keep the thumb timing consistent
- 4Short words are where rounds are won — three-letter words clear in under a second if you trust the first keystroke
- 5If you notice a mistake mid-word, finish it and move on; going back costs more characters than the error does
- 6Your best WPM and accuracy are stored locally, so compare against yourself rather than chasing other people's numbers
- 7Warm up with one throwaway round; cold fingers typically cost 10 to 15 WPM on the first attempt
Frequently Asked Questions
How is WPM calculated?
Correct characters divided by five, per minute — the standard formula. A 30-second round with 200 correct characters scores 80 WPM.
What happens if I spell a word wrong?
The word's length is counted as errors and the next word loads. Wrong words never add to your WPM, only to your error total.
Does capitalization or punctuation matter?
No. The test uses lowercase words without punctuation, so you only type plain letters.
Where is my best score kept?
In this browser on this device. Best WPM and accuracy survive reloads but are not synced anywhere.
Can I stop before 30 seconds are up?
Yes. Stop now scores the elapsed time, so a clean 15-second run still produces a valid WPM.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, the input box opens the on-screen keyboard. Typing on glass is slower, so expect lower scores than on a physical keyboard.
