Calcudoku blends a Latin square with little arithmetic cages. Every row and column holds each digit once, and the cells inside a cage must combine — add, subtract, multiply or divide — to the clue. Puzzles are generated independently so no two sessions play the same. The grid is 4x4 with 16 cells and the digits are 1 to 4, each once per row and column. The clock gives you 180 seconds, and the cage layout is the only thing that changes between puzzles.

Tips & Tricks
- 1On a 4x4 board the digits are only 1 to 4, so every cage's total is small: a two-cell cage multiplying to 12 has to be 3 and 4, and nothing else fits.
- 2A subtraction cage tells you the difference and a division cage the ratio, so they usually pin down two cells faster than any addition total does.
- 3Row sums on a 4x4 are fixed: every row adds to 10, because 1+2+3+4 is 10. Whatever a row's cages total, the remainder belongs to the one uncaged cell.
- 4Check the operator before the number. A cage marked divide with a total of 2 on a 4x4 is 1-2 or 2-4, and only one of those will survive the row.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a valid cage?
The cells inside a cage must combine with its single operator to reach the printed total. A two-cell addition cage adds both digits, a subtraction cage subtracts the smaller from the larger, and multiply and divide work the same way.
Which digits do I use?
On the 4x4 board the digits are 1 to 4, and each appears exactly once in every row and every column — the cages are the extra constraint on top of that Latin square.
Is there a timer?
Yes — 180 seconds. The board stays a fixed 4x4 with 16 cells, so the only thing that changes between puzzles is the cage layout and its operators.
