How to Play
Cricket Batter is six balls and one button. Each ball runs on a fixed 1.2-second cycle and you swing as it arrives: time it into the middle of the cycle for four runs, be a little early or late for a single, and swing far too early or late for nothing at all.

- 1The four is a window of plus or minus 8 per cent of the cycle — about 96 milliseconds either side of the middle. The single extends that to plus or minus 20 per cent, so roughly 480 milliseconds of each 1.2-second ball scores something.
- 2Beyond that window the shot is a miss and scores nothing, which is the opposite of a foul: swinging badly is worse than not swinging, but the ball still counts against your six.
- 3Six balls, four runs apiece, so a perfect innings is twenty-four. There is no wicket to lose and no way to end the innings early — the only thing at stake on each ball is whether it is a four or a one.
- 4Every ball is the same 1.2-second cycle, so counting the beat beats watching the ball. The ball animation is a rendering of the phase, not a thing with its own speed.
