How to Play
Egg Hauler is a browser balance-physics driving game. A loose egg sits on the roof rack of your car and the hills never stop rolling: hold gas to climb and the chassis leans back, brake and it pitches forward, and every slope change shoves the egg along the roof with real momentum. The egg slides downhill on the pitch and reacts to acceleration, so the balance meter at the top of the screen is your life bar — if the egg slides past the edge of the rack it rolls off, falls, and cracks, ending the run. Flipping past about 72 degrees of pitch loses the egg the same way. One point per metre travelled; hills are generated from three overlapping sine waves (54, 30 and 12 units of amplitude) so the terrain repeats patterns but never exactly. Gas gives 240 px/s of acceleration up to a 250 top speed, brake pulls 340, and roof friction bleeds 2.0 per second off the egg's slide — small corrections keep it centred, big swings kill. Every run opens on a flat pad: the hills ramp in over the first 280 metres, so use the calm start to settle the egg before the sine waves begin.
Controls
- → / D or GAS button — accelerate
- ← / A or BRAKE button — brake and reverse
- Tap and hold the right half of the canvas — gas; left half — brake
- SPACE — start or restart
- P — pause
Tips & Tricks
- 1Feather the gas on crests — full throttle over a lip pitches you back and launches the egg
- 2The balance meter is the whole game: correct early, gently, and often
- 3On steep descents, tap brake before the base of the hill, not at it
- 4Small speed is fine — distance comes from survival, not top speed
- 5Watch the horizon: a sharp slope change ahead means a jolt is coming
- 6If the egg slides forward, a breath of gas levels the car; if it slides back, ease off
Frequently Asked Questions
What ends a run?
The egg sliding off the roof and cracking, or flipping the car past about 72 degrees of pitch.
How is the score calculated?
One point per metre travelled — survival is the only metric.
Do the hills repeat?
They are built from three overlapping sine waves, so patterns feel familiar but no stretch is exactly the same.
Why does the egg slide when I accelerate?
It is a real loose mass: acceleration and pitch both push it along the roof. That is the core skill of the game.
Can I reverse?
Yes — brake below zero speed reverses slowly, useful for easing out of a steep valley.
Is there fuel?
No — the only limit is the egg. Drive as far as your balance holds.
