Chinese Checkers is a race, not a fight: ten pegs start in one star point and every one of them has to reach the star directly opposite. Move a single step to an adjacent hole or jump over a peg into the empty hole beyond, and chain jumps as long as they keep landing somewhere empty.
Controls
- Select — Tap one of your pegs
- Move — Tap a legal hole, one step or a jump
- Mode — Buttons switch between vs CPU and two players
Tips & Tricks
- 1Jumps are the whole game. A single step advances one hole; a jump advances two and can be chained, so one well-chosen peg can cross half the board in a turn while a crowded lane of single steps goes nowhere.
- 2The CPU evaluates positions by total distance from its target star, and subtracts half of yours, so it is actively trying to be nearer than you rather than merely near. Blocking its lanes is often worth more than advancing your own.
- 3Your own pegs are obstacles as much as the CPU's — a jump needs an empty landing hole, so a peg parked in the middle of your best lane costs you the chain it was standing in.
- 4Ten pegs have to arrive before the race is won, and the last two are always the slowest because the lanes they would have used are full of their own side. Leaving a clear lane for the stragglers is worth planning for on the last few moves.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I win?
Get all ten pegs into the star at the far side of the board. The check runs after every move and compares the pegs in the target star against the full set, so a win needs every one of them, not a majority.
Can I jump my own pegs?
Yes. A jump needs a peg to hop over and an empty hole beyond it, and the peg may belong to either side. Chains are allowed and are the fastest way across the board.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Pegs and destination holes are tapped on the canvas, so selecting and moving needs no keyboard.
